Although the game will run on a system that has the Minimum Specs, My advice is to run it on a systems with Recommended Specs or higher, The game has changed a lot since the original launch and In my own personal opinion, it demands a little more.
The first step you need to take is downloading the latest version of the "Station Launcher". You can download it from the following link:
If you already have the Station Launcher and a Staion account, please move on to Step:4
As im typing this the Station Launcher is in a Beta phase, So you may have problems with it crashing, although the latest version seems to be a pretty stable build.
Once you have the program downloaded and installed you need to create an account, To do this click on the button that is labeled "Create a Free Station Account" Fill in the form that follows and proceed to Step:4
Once you have your Station Account you can go ahead and sign into the Station Launcher, Choose the "MMO" Tab if it is not already selected. Here you should see a list of Sony's MMO's and other On-line games. Click "The Matrix Online" Option, At this point a window will pop up with two options, Click on the "Try" option.
Assuming all the above has been done correctly, You should be back on the "MMO" Tab once again, "The Matrix Online" option should now show in a Darker blue than all of the other options, indicating that the trial is active. Click "The Matrix Online" option, This time you will be faced with the EULA (End User License Agreement), Pressing the "Accept" button will get you onto the next screen, Pressing "Decline" will put you back to the MMO tab. Unless you have any issues with the EULA go ahead and press "Accept"
What is an EULA?
An EULA is a legal contract between the manufacturer and/or the author and the end user of an application. The EULA details how the software can and cannot be used and any restrictions that the manufacturer imposes (e.g., most EULA’s of proprietary software prohibit the user from sharing the software with anyone else).
Once you hit the "Accept" button the Station launcher will switch over to the Update screen and begin downloading and patching the game, This may take a while depending on what speed internet connection you have.
When the game is full patched up you can sign in and choose your server. Once your have picked a server you begin character creation.
One of the features of the game is the ability to change your characters appearance at any time via taking a pill which can be farmed at one of the dungeons or bought on the marketplace. So dont worry if you make a mistake when you make your charater, you can always farm for new Hair later ;)
Another great feature of the Trial is the "/Claim" command. It Gives you access to:
Hyper Jump Beta - This is a version of Hyper Jump that uses the Beta animation and uses no memory space in your characters ability memory slots. Hyper jump is normally only available at level 10, But with the /Claim command you will get it at level 2.
Its best to claim this when you come out of the tutorial, To do it simply type "/Claim" in the chat box and the ability will spawn in your inventory. Once it has spawnd upload it the hardline and load the abilty so it can be used. (uploading and loading of abilitys are covered in the tutorial).
The /Claim command can only be used once, But should you need it on another character you can farm this ability at a later date.
Another "/Claim" ability is "Mobius Code" this will become available if you subscribe the game after the 14 Day Trial period.
Mobius code - This abilty gives a quick health boost should you need it in combat, Just like Hyper Jump Beta this ability will not cost you any of your ability memory slots.
Should you have any problems with the game running on your computer its best to jump over and post your query on the "Technical Help and Questions" section on the Official Matrix Online Forums, Most of the generic issues are covered in the stickies (Router Issues, Problems with Vista Etc.) Should you need to make a new topic its best include your DXDIAG and MSINFO, A Guide on how to do this is explained here for each operating system.
